Fire Damage
Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration Painting
Smoke and soot remediation, odor sealing, and restoration painting after fire damage — to bring rooms fully back.
Overview
Restoring rooms after smoke and fire damage.
Fire and smoke damage doesn't paint over. Smoke residue carries odor that bleeds through latex paint for years, and soot can cause staining months later if it isn't properly sealed.
Our restoration painting starts with the right cleaning and sealing chemistry — Kilz Restoration, BIN shellac primer, or specialty smoke-odor sealers depending on the damage — and only then do we repaint the space. We work with insurance adjusters on covered restoration projects directly.
Our Process
Clean, seal, prime, paint.
Affected surfaces are cleaned with chemical sponges and TSP solution to remove loose soot and surface residue. Then we apply a stain-blocking, odor-sealing primer over every surface in the damage zone — walls, ceilings, trim, and inside closets and cabinets if they were exposed.
Once the primer is fully cured we paint the space normally with two finish coats. For severe damage we recommend full-room HVAC duct cleaning before any painting; smoke that's in the ductwork will redeposit on freshly painted walls within weeks.
What's Included
What restoration painting includes.
Restoration projects are scoped after a damage walk-through and quoted with documentation suitable for insurance claims.
Soot & Residue Cleaning
Chemical sponge and TSP cleaning of every affected surface before any primer or paint goes on.
Stain & Odor-Blocking Primer
Shellac or specialty restoration primer applied to walls, ceilings, trim, and closets — sealing in smoke odor and preventing future bleed-through.
Two-Coat Repaint
Full two-coat repaint of all primed surfaces in the color and sheen of your choice.
Insurance Documentation
Photo-documented scope, itemized estimate, and invoices formatted to match insurance claim requirements.
Materials & Finishes
Restoration-rated products.
Zinsser BIN shellac primer for the toughest smoke and soot stains. Kilz Restoration for general smoke damage. Specialty odor-encapsulating products like Fiberlock RECON when residual odor is severe.
Finish paints are the same quality residential and commercial lines we use on any project — Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or PPG, depending on what your insurance scope specifies.

Why Pristine
Why we handle fire restoration well.
We seal before we paint.
Painting straight over smoke-damaged surfaces is the most common mistake. We always prime with the right stain-blocker first.
Insurance-friendly documentation.
Itemized scopes and photo documentation that match Xactimate-style insurance formats so claims move faster.
Discreet, careful work.
Fire damage is stressful. Our crews work cleanly, communicate clearly, and respect that you're dealing with a difficult situation.
Timeline & Planning
Project length.
Single-room restoration is typically 3–5 working days. Whole-home or multi-room fire damage is scheduled around HVAC cleaning and contents removal, and usually runs two to four weeks depending on scope.
