Basement Floors
Basement Floor Painting & Epoxy
Bright, moisture-resistant epoxy basement floors that turn unfinished space into clean usable rooms.
Overview
Turn a dark basement slab into a bright clean floor.
An unfinished basement floor is usually the limiting factor on how usable the space feels. A properly coated basement floor changes that overnight — the light bounces, dust is sealed in, and you suddenly have a clean room instead of a storage zone.
Basement floors aren't the same as garage floors though. The slab usually has higher moisture content, less direct abuse, and different priorities. We spec the system to fit — moisture-tolerant primers, breathable epoxy or specialty floor paint, and a topcoat tuned for foot traffic rather than tire abuse.
Our Process
Built around basement moisture.
Before we quote, we test the slab for moisture vapor emission. Many older basements have moderate moisture coming up through the slab — that's the single biggest reason coatings fail in basements.
Once we know the moisture level, we spec the right primer. For low-moisture slabs we use a standard epoxy primer. For moderate moisture we use a moisture-mitigating primer rated to 12 lbs/MVER. For high moisture we recommend repairing the source first.
After prep — grind or shot-blast, vacuum, crack repair — primer goes down, then the colored basecoat, and finally a low-sheen polyurethane topcoat that keeps the surface easy to clean.
What's Included
What's included.
Basement floor coatings are quoted by square footage with prep, primer, and finish layers itemized.
Moisture Testing
Calcium chloride or RH probe testing before quote so the primer is sized to the actual moisture coming through the slab.
Mechanical Prep
Diamond grinding or shot blasting to open the concrete pores for proper coating bond.
Crack & Joint Repair
Control joints and small cracks routed and filled with flexible polyurea before coating.
Color + Topcoat
Pigmented epoxy or floor paint in the color of your choice, with a low-sheen topcoat for easy cleaning.
Materials & Finishes
Basement-rated coatings.
We use products from Sherwin-Williams ArmorSeal, Rust-Oleum Concrete Saver, and Behr Premium specifically rated for basement and below-grade applications. For higher-moisture slabs we step up to moisture-vapor barrier primers from Sherwin-Williams General Polymers.
Color is your choice — most clients go with a neutral light gray or warm tan to brighten the space. Decorative flake is available if you want garage-floor-style texture.

Why Pristine
Why basement coatings hold up for us.
We test for moisture first.
Skipping the moisture test is the most common reason basement coatings fail. We always test before we quote.
Right primer for the slab.
Low-moisture, moderate-moisture, and high-moisture slabs each need different primers. We spec accordingly.
Topcoat sized for foot traffic.
Basements don't need garage-grade polyaspartics. We use lower-sheen polyurethanes that look and feel right in living space.
Timeline & Planning
Project length.
Most basement floor projects run two to four days from grind to topcoat, depending on square footage and crack scope. You can walk on the floor the next day and have it back in full use after about a week of cure.
